Response to point, shoot, retouch and lable.
I think that labeling an image in a magazines necessarily is not a bad idea, typically we are aware of younger girls wishing to have the typical model image inspired and portrayed to them through the favorite magazines. I don't feel that images shouldn't be airbrushed etc to make that ideal look its the point of fashion, yes it is slowly changing but as for now it common and expected, I feel as long as it is stated that it had been re-touched etc there isn't a problem.
Small printing that an image had been airbrushed etc for that purpose i feel is not wrong and should be encouraged.
However on general photographs of landscapes, weather, scene's etc this shouldn't be the case it enhances the impact and beauty of the image, through photo shop i have learnt to appreciate the value of these retouches and how the improve my own work so i don't feel it should be required for general images.
Who is the author? Photographer, Model, retoucher or editor?
An author is defined both as "the person who originates or gives existence to anything" and that authorship determines responsibility for what is created.
Therefore i feel that the photographer is the author in this case because without the art their providing no-one else above could carry out their roles. for example
The model wouldn't have work because who would capture the image, The retoucher has nothing to retouch and the editor would not be able to write up or comment on an image.

Questions
Levels/Curves, photo filter and then Masking
Levels/curves helps us balance the photos' light balance before we edit the photos balance
Photo filter corrects the white balance
masking allows us to correct exposure in areas of the photo and also allows us to create a focus point using a frame
Question Two: What are the “quick keys” for: Move Tool, Crop Tool, Brush Tool, Text Tool, and Mask Mode. We did not go over the “quick keys” for Mask Mode in class, find the answer through your own research.
Move tool (V)
Crop tool (C)
Brush tool (B)
Text tool (T)
Mask mood (Q)
Question Three: What are the “short-cuts” for Select-All, Inverse-Selection and Deselect-Selection. (Ctrl + ?, if you work on a PC, or Command + ?, if you work on a Mac.)
Select all; Ctrl shift
Inverse selection; Ctrl Shift I
Deselect selection; Ctrl + D
Question Four: Write all the steps necessary to create vignetting. Do not forget to write what Brush Mode we use, and what percentage of opacity, hardness and flow we use to paint the mask.
- You need to select the brush tool (B) and adjust the size of the masking tool the circle should be equal on both sides for example;
You then click the cookie button on the bottom of the layers tool and click curves
Then add then adjust the curve that best advances the photo.
Question Five: When you open a JPEG in Photoshop, how many layers do you start with, and what are they / is it called?
JPEG images should only have one layer, because they need to be flattened for printing.
Question Six: Which of these buttons on your Layers palette do you press to make a new edit layer (curves, levels, color balance, etc.)? Which of these buttons do you use to delete a layer?
The trash can icon, to delete the layer you drag the action to the trash can and automatically the computer erases the action.
Question Seven: How do you “turn off” a layer / make it invisible?
Beside the action in the case background there is an eye, this allows you to see what affect the action has on the image and if you do no longer wish to use this action you simply drag it to the trash can.

Short Story
- The first thing i noticed when looking at this photo was the dark liquid surrounding the subject, this being reflective automatically draws you attention and makes you look for possible meaning's behind the photo!.
- I think in this photo the lady is alive but she experiencing pain of some kind, she looks oblivious to her surroundings and lost in thought. When i read the story behind the title Ophelia it would make sense that she is feelings this thought and i feels thats why this emotion is being captured and displayed.
- This photo was taken during the day and either early morning or sunset, they way the light is coming through the windows it looks as if the sun in low in the sky.
- This photos background settings are a typical 80's sort of house, however the mood the settings gives is a sense of cold and empty there is a lot going on in this photo but it doesn't seem as if they interact together to give a warm feeling.
- There is a housecoat over the staircase banister and slippers on two separate stairs, this implies that the subject took them of whilst still walking instead of taken them of and putting them in certain area, there is also a brown object at the back of the stairs that I think is a cabinet.
- The subject is not wearing shoes but the slippers on the stairs implies that she was at one point.
- Ophelia is a fictional character in the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare. She is a young noblewoman of Denmark, the daughter of Polonius, sister of Laertes, and sweetheart of Prince Hamlet. The character commits suicide in the novel, she is said to have climbed up a tree and the branch broke and she feel into a broke and she drowned.
imagine life as a housewife, mummy, wife, homemaker, under-appreciated human being...whatever you want to call it. The family loves you, no doubt about it, but do they really understand what life is like for you?You cook, you clean, you clean some more, you manage temper-tantrums from a two-year old, you clean up poop from a diaper, three rabbit cages, one cat box and still somehow manage to put a brave face on whenever your out in public at one of your many schedueled playdates, PTA meetings and other socail events. Rebecca Marsh was your typical housewife on sunnyhill lane with the 3 kids, and the one perfect husband with that all important paycheck, her life was endless parade of dinner dancses, household tasks, important playdates, dance lessons and luncheons; she never had that time to herself so the one day when beth was at dance, lucas was at swim club, lucia was at a playdate with the martins and her husband was away on his fourth buisness trip this month, Rebecca has that all important time she desired so much that she almost doesn't know what to do with herself, after reading for a while she decides to run a hot bath and finally send her husband that all important message thats shes drowning in chores and all she needed was for him to save her from this false shallow life she leads!

Paul Strand; sunset in Naiambia 2005
Shutter speed; no fast movements being caught so a low shutter speed such as 1/30 i think is being used
Aperture; 4.6 there is a main point of focus (tress) all around and mainly behind is out of focus!
ISO; 800 some noise is present
Cindy Sherman; lost in new york
Shutter speed; 1s no obvious movements are being captured therefore the photographer doesnt need to use a fast SS
Aperture;2.8 there is one clear point of focus and everything behind that begins to blur
ISO; 800 there is apparent noise in the bottom left hand corner
Man ray; 2007
Shutter speed; 1/250, i feel i fast shutter speed would needed to be used as the model wouldnt be able to hold that pose to strong after so long her arm would begin to shake with pressure!Aperture; 4.6 the image is clear and crisp
ISO; 200 no noise is present
Robert Frank
America 50 years ago.

Camera Guide
I am at a soccer game its 3.30pm and cloudy. I decided to take a picture,
- firstly i put the camera strap around my neck, and turned my camera on.
- I then looked through the viewfinder and then adjusted the Diopter to suite my individual needs. (The image must be in focus)
- I then had to adjust my shutter speed to 1/1oos so i would be able to get a clear crisp image of my subject in motion. To adjust my SS i had to hold down on the shutter release button and turn the sub command dial until i had the correct SS.
- I then had to adjust my aperture speed i decided to choose 5.6 because the exposure outside was good. To adjust my aperture i had to turn to main command dial until the correct aperture setting appeared.
- I used 200 ISO because i had access to enough light whilst taking the photo as i was outside and it was during the day.

Post 2
I feel this question is not clearly answered by the film, however Marlas art career experiences both these factors for example;
American dream; 4 year old girl who already has had her art collected and admired world wide and made $33,000.
Art World Scheme; Did Marla really paint this pictures? 4 year prodigy sells paintings faster than a 24 year old at the same level.
The film is open enough to allow us as viewers to draw are own conclusion on that statement. If i watched the film and thought that Marla was forced into this, or that it is ruining her childhood as she is put in spotlight and has a had her family rediculed publically, i might say this was a horrible world art scheme that shouldnt have happened.
However if i looked at this documentary from the American Dream point of view, i would say this girl at 4 years old is already an superstar from the modern art world who will continue to be a success.
I feel that its not how the director intended the documentary to be, i feel he set out to almost answer this question, however the cycle of events that Marlas storied followed ment this question was unanswerable and you as an individual would have to draw your won conclusions.
My kid could paint that
My Kid Coyld Paint That in my opinion is not the style of documentary the director intented, it starts of following the traditional documentary pattern where the director barely gets involved and it is literally just the family in focus, however when Marla's parents are said to have helped or in fact painted the pictures for her, thats when the documentary changes; firstly for the family as theyt attempt to use the documentary to clear the accusations made agaisnt them and secondly for the director who begins to doubt Marlas talent himself and makes this apparent to the views.
''I'd rather be stupid and not know about this kind of stuff.'' is were the director indicates he is doubting Marlas talent and in doing so also makes us doubt her aswell. This statement has a very powerfull affect on us as we would automaticaly assume that he would be sure this is infact not true, but by doubting he gets are focus again and therefore we continue with the document. I feel this was a technique used to keep are attention as viewers and further he sucess, because he continues to doubt even after Marlas work was recorded from start to finish and everyone else had accepted that she had infact done the work.
